Newcastle Baptist Church is a member of the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland.
'Baptists' are Christians who belong to the world's largest mainstream Protestant denomination. They are to be found in over 200 countries throughout the world. They are not a sect or cult group, nor are Baptists an import from America. Before Baptists emerged in the United States, they were to be found in Britain and Europe. They developed out of the 'Anabaptist' tradition of the Reformation (c.1525) from among associates of Zwingli at Zurich. The earliest known Baptist churches in Ireland date from around 1650, but many baptists emigrated from Ireland to North America in the 1700's due to religious persecution. There are currently around 115 active Baptist churches on the island of Ireland.
We aim to be biblical in our teaching and evangelical in belief and practice, with regular specific outreaches to children, youth and senior citizens as well as a monthly evangelistic event.
The Ministry of the Word of God has a priority in our services as well as worship, the breaking of bread and prayer. We seek to encourage each other in our walk with God through regular fellowship and involvement of members in all areas of church life.
As a local church we are only a small part of the universal church of believers that have found forgiveness for sin and peace with God, through repentance and faith in the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf.
God made each of us to enjoy a relationship with Him for all eternity. That relationship was broken when sin entered the world as a result of pride and disobedience to God. Jesus Christ came from heaven to earth to lay down his life as a perfect, complete and final sacrifice for sin.
No one has spiritual peace, purpose and hope until that relationship is restored. We each must choose whether to continue to live in rebellion against God or to acknowledge His glory, majesty and power and bow in grateful thanks for His love, mercy and grace shown to us in His Son Jesus Christ.
Rebellion or repentance, it's that simple. REPENTANCE is a turning away from sin (being so sorry for it that you want to stop sinning) and FAITH is trusting God by accepting the sacrifice the Lord Jesus made in payment for your sin.
As with any choice there are CONSEQUENCES. We can confirm by experience, as well as by the Word of God that to be 'born again' is to experience the spiritual birth that opens the door to life 'in all its fulness' as God originally intended (John 10:10). Depair is replaced by hope for the future, uncertainty by assurance of God's love, and inner turmoil and guilt over sin by the peace of God, as we begin to see things from God's perspective.
Dealing With Debt
Our debt of sin is what Jesus Christ died to remove.
“He came to pay a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay”. Only God Himself could wipe the slate clean by bearing the punishment for our sin Himself.
His death has the potential to cover the cost of your sin. His resurrection demonstrates His ability to pay it.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord” Rom. 3:23.
The price is too great for you to pay yourself. He offers to pay it, if you will admit that you cannot. You must acknowledge Him as Saviour and Lord. This is done by repenting of your sin, trusting Him to save you, and surrendering your allegiance to Him. Alternatively, you can stubbornly aim to do it yourself and pay for all eternity.
Why not offload the burden of guilt? Jesus said:
“Come to Me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” Matt. 11:28-30.
This doesn’t mean that you’ll never have another problem or never sin again, because no one will be made perfect until we get to heaven. However, freedom from guilt as a result of forgiveness for past sin, His peace and assurance, renewed purpose in life, and hope for the future, are some of the blessings that will result. The Holy Spirit will enter you and help you deal with the consequences of sin.

PREMISES
The church is priviledged to have good accommodation for our current congregation.
Interior - Main Auditorium (above) and Hall (below)
As well as the main meeting place we have adequate kitchen facilities, a variety of rooms for smaller meetings, and a multi-functional hall completed in 1999.
A new main entrance and reception area was completed at the front of the building on 31st July 2007. This refreshed and enlarged the welcoming area for members and visitors and was used for a wedding on 1st August 2007.
The building of the church hall and the replacement reception area were both supervised by Mr Granville Crory, the Church Secretary.
